Our story
A home school that grew up
Sulazi Academy has never been a large institution, and that is not an accident. The method we teach only works when a school knows every child individually.
Who we are
Christ-centred, and specific about what that means
We began in 2010 as a home school in Abuja, teaching a small group of children on the Accelerated Christian Education curriculum. In 2021 we opened to the public, on the green grounds in Durumi where the school sits today.
Being Christ-centred is not a line in a prospectus here. The school day opens with devotion, Scripture runs through the curriculum rather than sitting beside it, and character is assessed as carefully as mathematics. Families of every background are welcome, and we are straightforward about the setting a child will be learning in.
What has not changed since the first year is the size of the attention. Every child is known by name, by level, and by what they are finding hard this week.
Achieving Excellence Together
Together is the operative word. A child’s progress here is the work of the student, the supervisor and the parent, and all three see the same goals every week.

How the school grew
- 2010
A home school begins
Sulazi Academy started around a single table, teaching a handful of children on the ACE curriculum.
- 2021
Doors open to the public
After eleven years the school opened to families beyond its own, moving onto the Durumi grounds.

Kindergarten to Level 12
Three programmes run on the same individualised method, with sport, art and music through the week.
Our method

These come from the ACE curriculum itself, and they shape everything from the timetable to the way a report goes home.
Back to basic skills
Reading, writing and arithmetic are mastered before they are built on, with no gaps carried forward.
Character development
Sixty character traits are taught alongside the academics and scored in the same way.
Parental involvement
Goals are set weekly and go home weekly, so a parent always knows exactly where their child is.
Scripture at the centre
Every subject is taught from a biblical worldview, with daily devotion built into the school day.
